Seriously friends, what is wrong with us that we willfully, purposefully, and painfully experiment on our primate cousins? A few argue that it is our similar DNA that makes primate experimentation so necessary – but of course, it is exactly our similarities – suffering in response to physical, mental, and emotional abuse – that demands that we reject this scientific route on ethical grounds.
Sadly, the United States is the world’s largest user of chimpanzees for biomedical research, where as other scientific leaders such as Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Sweden, and the United Kingdom have all banned primate research.
But don’t despair! The US could be close to passing Great Ape Protection and Cost Savings Act of 2011 and you can learn more and communicate that you support this band to law makers in one incredible evening!
In summary: a night of learning and activism and getting to hang at the Seattle library. Oh, does this cost a bunch of money? How about none. Just RSVP here.
