I love that Seattle has great selections for vegan comfort food and a growing selection of vegan health food – I mean, I want all of my vegan friends to have food that they love and that is familiar and also get lots of nutrients and vitamins every day. And to help with healthy part of my desire is a brand new juice bar in Columbia City. Joining favorites like Healeo, Thrive, and Chaco Canyon and serving the southeast side of town is: Jus Bar!
Open for just a few weeks, this place is already hopping on a sunny Sunday afternoon. I’m happy to say that their selection of juices and smoothies is fantastic. With ingredients that I haven’t seen at as many other places like basil, vanilla, lime, and grapes. I had the Zest for Life which is basil, lemon zest, green apple, cucumber, and grapefruit. Mega refreshing! I loved it.
Their smoothie blends are also pretty original too with ingredients like avocado and raspberries – plus blended with like colors which is cool. They also serve coffee and for you non-soy folks they have both coconut milk or almond milk to choose from.
But that’s not all! They serve fresh salads and sandwiches and have two totally vegan options on their menu (below). And a few items that could quickly and easily be vegan modified – like the Tofu Lettuce and Tomato (baked tofu, romaine, avocado, sun-dried tomatoes, herbed vegenaise – hold the cheddar).
Columbia City now has so many vegan-friend places, from the Ethiopian at Awash, to the locally owned Mexican joint, El Sombrero, to Full Tilt Ice Cream, and more! I plan to try the Senegalese place soon. This tiny neighborhood makes me so happy. And a big thanks to Michelle of the blog A Bit Addicted to Cook Books for telling me about Jus Bar!
