Raw Pizza and More Savory Raw Dishes at Jodee’s

Hi vegan and veg-curious Seattle friends! This is Lulu, your newest Vegan Score correspondent. I will be sharing with you some of my favorite healthy eating vegan secrets around Seattle. First up are the new raw savory dishes at Jodee’s Desserts!

After two years of rocking the raw vegan scene in Seattle, Jodee’s Desserts (in Greenlake) has expanded to delight the Seattle vegan and vegan-curious community with raw entrees. And they are delivering with Raw Pizza Nights every Friday and a themed Raw Three-Course Dinner, Plus Drink on the last Friday of every month. Both events are held 6:30 – 9:30 p.m.

Most recently, for their August 2013 serving, Jodee’s uncooked a “Mexi-Raw”  Dinner. The savory menu, included Raw Nachos, Raw Mexican Pizza and Raw Plantain Pudding, served with a Raw Cocktail. Yes. An all raw, organic, vegan and gluten-free meal, which so happens to be low-glycemic!

The Raw Nachos were an absolute delight, complete with guacamole and salsa on a hearty walnut and zucchini-based crumble topped on corn raw chips, dressed with a dollop of cashew-based sour cream and a bell-pepper, cashew-based cheese.

The Mexican Raw Pizza was composed of a walnut, hemp seed, zucchini, sun-dried tomato and flax seed Mexican spiced pizza crust, loaded with avocado, bell peppers, onions and walnut taco meat on a nacho cashew layer of creamy goodness, drizzled with chipotle-cream.

And the Raw Cocktail had a surprising kick! A concoction of fresh coconut water, and fresh squeezed orange and lime juice over ice, aka an on the rocks cocktail, was a refreshing and perfectly paired drink to commence the meal. The drink was not overly sweet, letting dessert serve its purpose.

Speaking of dessert, the Raw Plantain Pudding topped with a Cheery-Raspberry Compote covered with Coconut Cashew Whip Cream and two leaves of fresh mint was a smooth, savory comfort cup of pudding goodness. Every spoonful of the parfait layered offered a perfectly balanced sweet treat to end the savory Mexi-Raw dinner.

And for those of us who cannot wait until the final Friday of every month, join us at Jodee’s Desserts for Raw Pizza Nights every Friday as Jodee un-cooks a different pizza flavor. Prior servings have included Hawaii, Thai Curry, Burrito, Pesto, Alfredo and classic Marinara pizza.
