I’m Christina, and I’m guest blogging on Vegan Score to tell you about the upcoming Seattle Walk for Farm Animals, an annual fundraising event to benefit Farm Sanctuary, the largest farm animal rescue, education and advocacy organization in North America. Throughout the years, more than 8,000 animals have called Farm Sanctuary home, and nearly 3,000 more have been saved through safe and loving placements. The animals who come to Farm Sanctuary have been rescued from factory farms, stockyards, natural disasters, and abuse and neglect cases.
The Seattle Walk for Farm Animals will take place on Saturday, September 21 at Green Lake Park Community Center. Consider walking, joining (or starting!) a team or making a donation on behalf of a Walker. When you participate in the Walk, you help fight cruelty to animals on factory farms and give a voice to these incredible creatures.
After a sunny (we’re an optimistic bunch!) walk around the lake, enjoy music, food and a chance to win some amazing raffle items. Gary Finkelstein, a favorite Northwest Piano Bar entertainer for over 40 years, will be performing, and Ben Greene, co-author of “The Vegan Athlete: Maximizing Your Health and Fitness While Maintaining a Compassionate Lifestyle,” will be the guest speaker.
We get warm and fuzzy thinking about the remarkable list of companies who graciously donated food and raffle items to help raise money for Farm Sanctuary. There will be delicious samples from Araya’s Place, Chaco Canyon Café, Field Roast, Fire and Earth Kitchen, Mighty-O, Pizza Pi, Veggie Grill, Violet Sweet Shoppe and more! Be sure to purchase a raffle ticket for a chance to win some truly unique prizes – handbags from Susan Nichole, a two-night stay at Someday Farm Bed and Breakfast, a vegan cooking class, a photography package – plus, a few surprises!
With just about two weeks until the event, there’s no time to waste! Register now and help support Farm Sanctuary’s mission to end the abuse and suffering of farm animals and to provide life-long refuge for the animals who call Farm Sanctuary home.
