Hello all you happy and healthy vegan-like folks. You may have seen on Facebook, or if you were looking closely at the community board at Wayward, that the annual Northwest Animal Rights Network (NARN) Open Member Meeting is coming our way. Leave a little time on your calendar April 5, 2014 from 1:00-4:00 pm to come learn more about what you can do for animals.
Haven’t heard of NARN? This 100% volunteer, grassroots group works to make the future vegan by bringing information to the public via tabling, leafleting, and holding vegan-fundraising events. They also make becoming and staying vegan easier with the Vegan Mentor Program. In addition to helping veganism spread far and fast, they also work to end the exploitation of animals here in the NW via campaigns – such as the Friends of Woodland Park Zoo campaign and the campaign to end animal experimentation at the UW – and much more. I’ve been on the board of NARN for 1.5 years. Not sure why this sort of work matters? Please check out this post from just before the same meeting last year.
NARN is a very small group of all volunteers who work towards a world where humans don’t exploit, use, abuse, capture, oppress, torture, kill, or consume animals because we feel like. It is a future that is better aligned with our values and the needs of the planet. If this sort of thing interests you, come and learn more about NARN and how you might work towards a kinder and more sustainable future. Vegan refreshments, of course!
