I’m Christina, and I’m back again guest blogging on Vegan Score to tell you about the Seattle Walk for Farm Animals, a not-to-be-missed annual fundraising event to benefit Farm Sanctuary, the largest farm animal rescue, education and advocacy organization in North America. The Walk for Farm Animals is a positive way to speak out on behalf of animals who cannot speak for themselves and to make a real difference in their lives. Walkers in cities all over the country raise vital funds for Farm Sanctuary’s life-saving work, and come together with compassionate people in their own community to promote kindness toward animals.
The 5th annual (wow!) Seattle Walk for Farm Animals will take place on Saturday, September 20 at Green Lake Park Community Center. Consider walking, joining or starting a team, or making a donation on behalf of the Seattle Walk. When you participate in the Walk, you help fight cruelty to animals on factory farms and give a voice to these incredible animals.
Check-in by 11:30am and you’ll be able to participate in the Seattle Walk’s first pre-Walk yoga stretch, led by Paula Tharp of Herbivore Yogi. After a walk around the lake spreading compassion and awareness, join us in the Community Center for a family-friendly celebration, including live music, delicious vegan food and a chance to win some amazing prizes! This year, we’re shaking it up a bit and introducing door prize items (instead of a traditional raffle), and a special silent auction!
We are thrilled to have a such a generous group of food, door prize and silent auction sponsors on board to support Farm Sanctuary, including Field Roast, Chaco Canyon Cafe, Mighty-O, Thrive Cafe, Pizza Pi, Susan Nichole Handbags, Kendall Lauren Photography, VeganMe, and Seattle’s two new vegan food trucks – No Bones About It and Seattle Cookie Counter! And many more!
We’re also excited to have Christie Lagally as our guest speaker! Christie is a local Seattle newspaper columnist, radio host and editor for LivingHumane.com, and she covers a wide range of topics concerning animals and the welfare of animals in society.
Plus… Br’er Rabbit will be performing! Voted best band in their home city of Bellingham, WA in 2013, they have quickly risen to local acclaim and now tour extensively throughout the U.S. The band recently released their first full-length album, The Wild North, and donates 50% of the proceeds of their single, Open Up, to Farm Sanctuary!
With just over a week until the event, there’s no time to waste! Register now and help support Farm Sanctuary’s mission to end the abuse and suffering of farm animals and to provide life-long refuge for the animals who call Farm Sanctuary home.
