What do Galentine’s Day, Fashion, and NARAL Have in Common?

Yes, somehow radsters in Seattle have been able to combine three amazing things into one weekend. Galentine’s Day cards and art made by local Seattle vegan artist and designer Kat Mashello will be popping up at Seattle’s only all-vegan eco clothing boutique on February 10 and 11, and a portion of proceeds  will go to support NARAL Pro-Choice Washington.  Let’s break it down.

Kat Marshello Studios: Kat designs and makes art cards, pins, and does custom design out of her studio on Capitol Hill. Inspired by Leslie Nope, Kat’s Galentine’s Day collection, breaks the anachronistic and heteronormative habits of Valentine’s Day, and encourages us to celebrate our friendships on February 13. My favorite card simply says, “You’re a bad ass babe.” Everyone deserves one of those. (And if you can’t make the pop-up, you can get them online.)

Cards with hearts on a black background with text that says "Galentine's Day Pop-up Feb 10 + 11, Drizzle and Shine"

Drizzle & Shine: This very special store offers clothing for all genders, shoes, jewelry, and more – the fashion is 100% vegan, sweatshop free, and made out of organic, sustainable, or recycled materials. Each month the store donates to a non-profit such as Cupid’s Landing Animal Sanctuary, Lambert House, Hip Hop is Green, Food Empowerment Project, and Fur Bearer Defenders. They also host events like like this pop-up, magazine launches, and monthly art openings during the Capitol Hill art walk. If you have to buy new, this is a dream place to shop. Open every day.

NARAL Pro-Choice Washington: So during this pop-up, Feb 10-11, 2017, a portion of the days sales will go to benefit our state NARAL (National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League). Founded in 1975 NARAL Pro-Choice Washington is the one group that has constantly (40+ years) fought for laws and legislation that uphold women’s (and everyone with a uterus’s) right to make their own decisions about their bodies. I love feminists coming together to fund the groups that protect human rights! If you can’t get to this pop-up, you can support NARAL here.

RSVP for the Pop-Up on Facebook or just show up. Just don’t forget to market your calendar.
