Hey friends! For the first time ever, the incredibly wonderful folks over at El Centro de la Raza are offering a 100% vegan tamale class. That’s right! This march you can learn how to make vegan tamales from a master tamalera! You’ll get to help prepare them in the handmade and traditional fashion using cultural ingredients. You’ll also get a brief presentation of the history of tamales. The ingredients are also included in the class price and you’ll get to take home a dozen tamales to eat with friends or freeze for later.
But that’s not all! This class is a fundraiser for El Centro de la Raza’s Senior Wellness Program, Senior Home Delivered Meal Program and other anti-poverty programs such as the food bank, youth programs, crisis outreach, veteran outreach, and general rad community building. If you are not familiar with El Centro, check out their website, especially on the history of their building, which I love.
The class size is VERY limited, so be sure to reserve your spot soon. This would be a sweet thing to do on a date too!
